What Is Your Nervous System Organizing Around?

Hypnotherapist Isaiah McGee, C.Ht.

There’s a difference between organizing our lives and recognizing what our lives may already be organizing around. Greetings and welcome to all new and existing readers of A Conscious Life Hypnotherapy Practice, where therapeutic hypnosis treatments and grounded tools support meaningful change.

This week’s Conscious Flyer also arrives with a refreshed presentation—bringing together soft sage coloring, warm earth-toned accents, and a more spacious reading experience. In this week’s article, A Matter of Organization, I explore how our predominant considerations become the reference points around which the nervous system regulates.

The inner organization of possibility

A Matter of Organization

No, this is not yet another article on endless organizational tips, approaches, or so-called revolutionary innovations on organization. You know, those wonderful articles you read but rarely apply.

This read focuses on the mental landscape our nervous system organizes around. The nervous system regulates, and it regulates itself according to the reference points we use in our considerations about life.

What the Nervous System Regulates Around

What does this mean? To regulate means to control, adjust, or maintain something so that it operates within a range or condition.

And what we consider—think regarding matters—becomes the basis of what the nervous system bases its regulation on.

To be clear, what we consider is not necessarily what we like, desire, or intend, but rather what predominantly occupies the content of our thinking.

If we’re preoccupied with considering unsatisfactory conditions, i.e., financial lack, relationship dysfunction, health dysfunction, employment concerns, etc., then the nervous system operates to maintain the prevailing status of these considerations.

No one likes or enjoys experiencing dysfunction in any way that it may appear, but as stated, the nervous system doesn’t operate on what is desired; it regulates on behalf of what is considered.

When Desire and Consideration Conflict

This is the reason for frustration when well-meaning efforts do not yield the desired results. The desired intention, aim, and effort are engaged in the midst of a nervous system regulating on behalf of the predominant considerations of the lack and limitation of matters.

“I try so hard to experience relationships that are satisfying, yet I experience the same dysfunctional pattern in them.”

“All my interviews for employment go very well, and I get good feedback, yet I don’t hear back from these employers.”

“I have poured a lot of effort into making my business succeed, and it still flounders.”

“I live a healthy lifestyle, yet I’m still prone to getting sick.”

These experiences reflect desire and intention in the midst of conscious or unconscious contrary considerations.

The person desiring satisfying relationships primarily considers what she doesn’t want, what she wants to avoid, and a doubtful mindset while participating in the pursuit.

A person desiring employment, with capable skills and a desire to work, does so in the midst of considering employment statistics, dire headlines, or comparing themselves to others.

A person spends countless hours toiling in an entrepreneurial effort in the midst of considering their doubts about success.

A person may eat relatively healthy, or extremely so, in the midst of considering all the things they don’t want to catch or succumb to.

Are you recognizing how desired intent can express itself from within sabotaging considerations?

The nervous system organizes around what is considered

The Nervous System Organizes Around What Is Considered

The nervous system is organizing life conditions around the prevalent considerations.

During a recent hypnotherapy session, a client was severely distraught, expressing a seeming quicksand of dysfunction in her life—nothing was working for her. Her beloved pet was missing, she had issues with securing her depended-on medications, her housing situation was in flux, and former support systems seemed to be evaporating.

She felt more pained by how all of her sincere efforts to remedy situations seemed to be met with more undermining dysfunction.

Many of us have been this person, even if not to the severity of this person’s plight.

This person is experiencing the personification of a nervous system organizing around unconscious considerations of lack and limitation while efforting to change the consequences of those considerations.

But, as the old saying goes, “That dog won’t hunt.”

Effort is not the essential necessity for a change in conditions or circumstances, but rather it is a matter of the nervous system organizing around different considerations of life.

Congruency, Not Positive Thinking

This is not a case for “being positive,” but rather being congruent. If our well-meaning intentions are accompanied by considerations of lack and limitation, satisfying those intentions becomes nullified or marginal at best.

Many of us have been there. We settled for a mediocre job, relationship, health status, or the lack thereof, thinking it’s about the inherent difficulties of the matter.

In truth, it is a reflection of a divided awareness—that is the true culprit.

Two fundamental considerations

Two Fundamental Considerations

Speaking of considerations, there are only two things that need to be considered for a nervous system to organize around satisfying expressions of life. (And working tirelessly is not one of them!)

Remember, you experience what the nervous system—the gatekeeper of possibility—organizes itself around. If you’re considering the impossibilities around hopeful possibilities, your nervous system organizes around (orchestrates on behalf of) the considerations of impossibility.

In short: thwarted desire.

The first fundamental consideration to establish is to not consider desired possibility to be abstract theory.

If something is not recognized, and therefore respected, as a real possibility—not just simply a desired one—the nervous system has no basis to organize around.

This is not about thinking hard or intensely about a desire so much as it is to recognize that, in an infinite world, all possibilities are valid ones. Not just wishful ones.

The other fundamental consideration is to be of one mind. You can’t be affirmative and pessimistic—I mean, you can—but not for expected ends.

Again, I stress, this is not about being positive come what may; it is about a mindset that is congruent. Congruency is aided by fundamental consideration number one: All possibilities are valid.

They are not valid because your current circumstances appear to permit them. All possibilities are valid because life is an infinite construct.

Congruency and the validity of possibility

Congruency and the Validity of Possibility

Begin to have those two considerations be your considerations: that all possibilities are valid, and that establishing congruency for what is desired allows your nervous system to organize—facilitate—the outcome of that congruency.

Hanging your desires on magic, positive-thinking philosophy, or other belief systems does not make life work; congruency with the validity of possibility allows life to be welcomed.

Allow your nervous system to organize around that.

A Conscious Life Hypnotherapy Practice

If you’re recognizing a gap between what you consciously desire and what your inner landscape continually organizes around, I invite you to book a session with me. Together, we can explore the considerations operating beneath the surface and create greater congruency around what you genuinely want to experience.

It's Here: Pique's New Caffeine-Free Afternoon Energy

I quit my afternoon coffee. Not because I wanted to — because I found something better.

You know that wall you hit every day around 2–3 PM? I used to just accept it as the cost of doing anything. Another coffee, a quick spike, then the crash — and somehow I'd still feel dehydrated by dinner.

Then I tried X·E Fountain, Pique's brand-new electrolyte energy drink, and I genuinely wasn't ready for how good "no crash" could feel.

No caffeine jitters. No 4 PM slump. Just clean, steady energy that actually hydrates me instead of draining me. It's built with a premium Vitamin B Complex for natural cellular energy, Magnesium Malate + Taurate for real focus, and a full electrolyte blend that makes it feel like a treat, not a chore.

The cucumber-celery-lime flavor is so crisp and refreshing — it's basically stolen my afternoon coffee slot completely.
