Be aware of turmoil without being consumed by it. Awareness is enough; the safeguard is not moving in.

Check In Don’t Move In
In a recent hypnotherapy session, a client vented her anguish and overwhelm triggered by the state of world affairs. She felt overwhelmed by the constant news reports of turmoil, societal upheaval, wars, conflicts, and political in-fighting, leaving her emotionally exhausted and fearful of the state of things.
Her anxiety mirrored what a great many individuals perceive about the times we are living through. This heightened worldly turmoil can and often aggravates personal distress, conflicts, and relationships.
The Cost of Being Ginned Up
We don’t realize the degree to which a ginned-up world, fueled by 24/7 news reports of doom and gloom, gins us up personally. Personal and work conflicts function on hair-trigger flareups and impatience.
We may be short with our children and mates, and every newsfeed scroll amplifies the discord.
This client felt paralyzed because the idea of tuning it all out seemed like putting her head in the sand.
Check In, Don’t Move In
My understanding response to her dismay was, “check in but don’t move in.”
A curious look overtook her face, demanding further explanation. I expressed to her the difference between being aware of a matter and being consumed by it.
Attempts to tune out the turmoil are reaction rather than restoration. How do you reclaim your sense of centered equilibrium in what appears to be a world in tailspin?
Beyond Well-Intentioned Breaks
Well-intended breaks from the madness don’t resolve the issue. They disperse accumulated anguish only to enable room for the accumulation to begin again.
Maintaining a steadiness of well-being in the midst of worldly and personal discord comes through understanding a fundamental dynamic upon which life affairs propel themselves.
Understand that all life experiences unfold from mental programming. We don’t lift a finger without some programmed process that propels it.
Choosing Beneficial Programs
As such, you can decide whether the propelled result of a mental program is beneficial or detrimental. This recognition is parallel to the old adage: “curse the sin, not the sinner.”
You can recognize—check in—to the dysfunction witnessed or reported, but not be consumed—move in—by the programmed consequences perpetuated.
You can hear of tragedy or blatant abuse of power without the need to follow every beat of its occurrence. Check in, but don’t move in.
In It but Not of It
This “in it but not of it” stance enables you to gain leverage to balance your own sense of centeredness. This is not apathy but autonomy.
The secret to successfully establishing and maintaining equilibrium in the midst of disorder is recognizing that prior to absorbed programming there remains an unprogrammed stasis core to all of life.
The Immutable Core
This core stasis of your being is immune to the corruption of detrimental programming regardless of its severity. This immutable core stasis of your existence is why you desire to experience optimal realities in your life.
It is also why, in every moment of every breath, you can begin again—to reset to that core program-free stasis of being.
This leverage empowers well-being during any disorder: the realization that something about you remains free of programming during your entire journey of living.
Awareness or Exploitation
Your awareness can fuel judgment of what is witnessed—or reprogramming.
It is why you can check in to turmoil and dismay without moving into the corners and recesses of its programming via the exploitation of reported tragedies, discord, and traumas.
Be honest: there is no reported discord or tragedy that requires more than 90 seconds of your attention to be aware of the situation. The rest is exploitation for views, clicks, ratings, gossip, debate, and positioning.
And for a sober reality check, ask yourself: is that money from attention-compelling amplification going in your pocket?
I rest my proverbial case.

Here are three resetting engagements to establish alignment with your core equilibrium of well-being and a therapeutic hypnosis treatment you can absorb and download that anchors the alignment in the subconscious:
1. Spend regular intervals in Nature. Nature is not listening to news reports (it’s impacted by them, but not ‘listening’ to them). Spending even short periods of time in nature has an automatic recalibration effect on the psyche and body because you, too, are an element of nature. Exposure to the ebb and flow of the ocean tide of a beachside visit can restore the rhythm of peace in your awareness. 2. Refrain from group think. We all have an impulse to want to belong, however that impulse can be commandeered by toxic groupthink just to be a participant in societal discourse. Decide to use the belonging impulse to participate in what nourishes rather than tears down.
3. Forgive. Start with yourself. Forgiveness is not conceding to or enabling destructive behavior but rather forgiveness is a reset. A reset to that core program-immune stasis of your identity or the identity of another. Recognize that accountability and forgiveness can co-exist.
